our
philosophy
When was the last time you walked
into a machine-shop and saw
someone making their own M6x12
capscrew... well why should
you make your own?
CAD is in a state of constant
development and flux. The days
of simple lines and arcs are
well gone, but the nirvana of
picking virtual parts out of
your suppliers virtual stores
and inserting them into your
virtual machine is not quite
here yet.
We are at an in-between stage,
where the more basic components
are internationally standardised
to a level, where one can confidently
purchase parts irrespective
of supplier.
The question is no longer whether
there are too many parts in
your assembly, but whether there
are enough. The closer the assembly
resembles the real world, the
better the results. In other
words, the more you put into
it, the more you get out of
it.
We aim to provide virtual parts
to save users creating the same
thing over and over, and get
on with what they are being
paid to do - design machines
and products. Are you still
hand-machining your own screws?
The parts libraries were created
from in-house necessity. We
found existing products expensive,
cumbersome and heavily slanted
towards imperial sizes. We didn't
want to pay for parts we were
never going to use. The library
started off as an after-hours
exercise, and quickly grew to
accommodate everything we used
regularly.
