i. After installation, none of the parts show up in the Feature Palette™!

A: Ensure SolidWorks is pointed at the library directories, by following the instructions in the READ-ME.txt file.

ii. Why not use design tables to generate the holes?

A: At this stage (SW99-313) you cannot have multiple configurations in a library file.

iii. Why can't I insert holes on curved surfaces?

A: The SolidWorks library features look for flat surfaces, faces or planes. Create a PLANE on the curved face (there is an option to create it tangentially at a point) and pick that before inserting the hole.

iv. How do I create new configurations/sizes?

A: In the Feature Palette, right-click on the type of hole and size, most closely resembling the new size. This brings up an 'Edit Palette Item' button. Click here and the file will open for editing. Before changing any dimensions, be sure to save the file under its new part-name, sticking to conventional naming arrangements wherever possible.

v. When I right-click the library item in the FeatureManager, the option 'dissolve library feature' appears. What does that mean?

A: Think of the library feature as a 'sub-assembly' of features. If you decide to dissolve it, its constituent features will be displayed. In the case of a threaded hole the Revolve-Cut and Cosmetic-Thread commands will appear. Unlike library parts, library features are fully contained within the part and maintain no outside references after insertion (dissolved or whole).

vi. Can I pass this library on to my colleagues?

A: YES, the TAP'N CLEAR library is FREEWARE, and may be copied and distributed freely. The only provision is that it be passed on in its entirety, as originally downloaded; i.e. showing the original promotional and licencing messages.

vii. Aren't you spelling LICENCE incorrectly?

A: Australia uses the UK English spelling of the word, the meaning remains the same. The United States spelling is LICENSE. Insider joke at a large multinational, Q:'What is the international business language?' - A: 'Broken English!'.
